Japanese Beetle Control

Japanese beetles, which are distinctive in their copper wings and metallic green bodies, are perhaps the most devastating pest for the plant species, as they feed on over 300 different species. Like many pests, a single Japanese beetle does not eat much, but a large group of them can destroy the leaves of a plant or tree.

When Japanese Beetles Are Most Active

Japanese beetles lay eggs in the soil in August, the eggs hatch and they spend 10 months feeding off vegetation under the ground, growing into an adult insect. They emerge in May to mate and feed off of leaves in the sun. Paffy’s combats these pests by spraying the ground and base of trees to kill the eggs and larvae, then we spray the visible pests on trees.

You can always tell when a tree or plant has had Japanese beetles on or around them: the leaves look like doilies! They damage the plants greatly, and if you tend a garden, you know they can be hard to get rid of. Thankfully Paffy’s Pest Control can take care of these pests for you.

Japanese Beetle Treatments

First we focus on treating the adults verses treating the larvae. Our technicians have found that it works better because you can be getting them from neighbors or neighboring foliage. Our technicians will treat the entire tree with a power sprayer with a chemical that will not harm the tree. Once he does that, he will then we treat the base of the tree for any potential larvae.
