Mouse and Rat Control

admin • Jul 11, 2019

Maybe you’ve been there: preparing something in the kitchen, humming to yourself, and out of the corner of your eye you swear you see something dart out from under the stove. You stop humming, cautiously turn around, you see nothing so you peer under the stove, chalk it up to going crazy and go back to what you were doing. You think you see it again so you stop and look, faster this time and— “Moooouuuuuse!”

You run and get on a chair and call for help while the mouse goes about its business in your kitchen. Maybe it doesn’t always happen like that, but having mouse problems is really common actually, but it doesn’t have to be. Paffy’s Pest Control can take away all the stress of getting rid of rodents. Our mouse and rat control and extermination processes are very similar.

How? It is a simple process, but it’s not always easy. The first time a technician goes out to a property, he is going to inspect the foundation. He will cover any mouse entry points up to about 1-inch in diameter. Did you know mice have no bones? They are all cartilage so they can squeeze into openings as small as a fourth of an inch in diameter.

After he closes those holes he will look at the activity on the inside. He will set some baits and traps typically in the furnace room and along the sill plate. Occasionally our technicians can place some rodent control devices in other locations, such as under the kitchen sink, but our methods of drawing the mice away from the active places of the house to the furnace room are successful. Once the mice eat the bait, it’s only a matter of time before they die, and they usually try to make it outside to do so. It is possible, however, that some may die inside, we can’t control that.

We give the bait two weeks to work before we do a follow-up. After that, if you need anything else regarding mice or rats, all you do is give us a call. You may also want to consider getting the 3-Season Home Service Plan, where you would be covered year-round for mice and insects. Pricing is based on square footage, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call our office. 651-459-4654.

Mice may be cute in cartoon form, but they don’t need to take up residence in your home.
